Oh, DW fandom, you forced me to do this

 Because Rose-haters are popping out once again like those annoying zits you get right before you go out on a date, I bring you a picspam full of S1 Rose awesomeness and Doctor/Rose canon love. 

Rose-hater idiocy #1:

"She's so selfish!"

Yes, clearly she's only think about herself here. "Like, OMG, now that Mickey's gone, no more sex!" D:



And here she's obviously asking the Doctor to help Casandra purely for the purpose of talking to Casandra later on about plastic surgeons.



Oh, and here, she's only defending Gwenyth because she doesn't want her hurt because she's going to buy her from Mr. Sneed so that she can have her own personal maid.



She's was only comforting the Dalek because she wanted it to shut up. Those noises it was making were giving her a migrane.



Oh, this is a great example. She was only upset over Suki's death because she was going to borrow her clothes.



Rose wasn't trying to help that little boy. She thought a nice barrage balloon ride would be fun.



Nancy wouldn't shut up either, so Rose was "comforting" her by telling her about the future.



The thought of saving the Doctor never even occured to her. She just wanted the power of the Time Vortex to herself.

Rose-hater idiocy #2:

"It's just the Doctor's hormones."

Indeed?















































Ahh, yes, I see it now. I was so stupid to confuse love with hormones. *facepalm*

Just looking at these two examples has shown me the error of my ways. *bows down before Rose-haters* Thank you so much for showing me the light.

There was one anti-Rose rant I read that said she was an idiot (I believe the words they used were "dumb blonde") and it was basically hero-worship. (And no different than the Martha/Doctor relationship).

I don't get the rabid hate. Really, I don't. Not wanting to ship her with the Doctor? OK, that's your decision, and especially if you're a classic Who fan that prefers the Doctor asexual, I can respect that. Just respect in return that I like her with the Doctor.

But why the rabid, crazed hatred that gets heaped on her? I always thought she was one of the most likable female characters around. She has flaws, but they are all normal human flaws that we would also have (like trying to save your dad). She's also brave, funny, friendly, compassionate, and adventurous without being Mary Sueish.

Also, I get annoyed at how many women hate female characters like whoa, but never reach that level of disdain over male characters. Hating on your own gender, much?

The sort of irrational, crazed character-hate leveled at her is why my DW fan-life is limited to a pro-Rose bubble (a more fun and intelligent world, true, but it's sad that people can act so petty just because this is the internet). That said, I rather enjoyed the picspam brought about due to the haters' most recent spurt of poison. :)

I don't understand how people hate a character so much. Or why people spend so much of thier time hating them. There are characters I don't like, But I tend to ignore them and move along. Same with ships I don't like. I don't particularly like to read slash, but I don't sit around screaming at people who do like it.

I don't understand uber Rose haters anymore then I understand uber Martha haters. What I hate even more is "You just don't like that character because she is a potential rival for so-and-so". I got that once when I was doing a reaction post to something (Harry Potter I think). I think I was complaining about the lack of characterization for a particular character.

Case in point, my best friend and I have totally different tastes in alot of stuff. She likes zombie movies, I don't. She likes Slash and I don't. I like romantic movies and she doesn't. But we don't sit around arguing over it. Well, we have discussions about character stuff, but we don't really argue over things.

Actual CANON? *smooch* I love it. :D If the character just rubs a fan the wrong way, who am I to argue them out of it? But this bizarre-O-vision look at the way Rose actually behaved ONSCREEN? It's just..well, bizarre. She had moments of being selfish, yes, but she had many more moments of being kind, compassionate and even self-sacrificing. And the hormones thing? Pft. Ridiculous. A big fat "YES!!" to these pictures. The Rose hate is really obnoxious because it's so not based in canon and it's skewed by people's biases. It drives me insane. And the recent fandom shenanigans on this subject is part of the reason why I started warriorsofrose.
